As I walked to a meeting, I saw what looked like a head in the trash can. But I ignored the instinct to take a photo of it, and crossed the street. Seconds later, I told my colleague, “excuse me, I’ve got to go back and look in that trash can.” She looked at me strangely, but I left anyway. I don’t know how to truly capture in words how strange this seemed to me. My mind went to the Sopranos and Tony’s “waste management” business to simply wondering what the story was. Why did someone decide to toss these heads into a public trash can rather than bag them up and toss them in their own garbage? Under what circumstances would someone just say, “I’ve got to get rid of these 3 HEADS, oh well, I ‘ll throw it in a public trash can.”Was this a result of a fed up frustrated stylist that said to himself “that’s it, I’m done with hair, I’m going to medical school.” Was this a statement from an artist, who will now be upset that I have written a blog about it? What do you think is the story behind this?
