We celebrated my wife’s birthday today. It was important to me to get the boys involved in thinking about and celebrating their mothers birthday.
So yesterday, they worked on some home made cards and beaded her a necklace and wrist bracelet. They were made with the finest pipe cleaner we could find. I then spent some time with Ry, my oldest son. We went downtown, and bought her some Clinique products she likes. He got to choose some of the items. Today, J, my 4 year old and I went looking for cake and flowers. I let him pick the cake. It was a challenge to not overly direct him away from the “power rangers, spider-man, Cubs, or Hannah Montana cakes.
He went for a simple cake, which we could write on. And then I let him help with picking flowers. This time, he wanted the dozen roses. How was I to know he’d have expensive taste when it came to flowers! We set it all up in Ry’s room. I made us a feast of chicken nuggetts, fish sticks, and salad. After eating, we marched in with J presenting her with the homemade cards and jewelery, Ry presenting the box of Clinique products, and I brought the roses and cake. From the response we received, it appears it was just right.
